Bessie Eloise Bennett, 73, lifetime resident of Valdosta, died on Tuesday, March 1, 2005 at her residence after a lengthy illness. Born on May 7, 1931 in Lowndes County, she was the daughter of the late James Edward and Bessie Eloyce Blackmon Sutton. Mrs. Bennett was the widow of the late Clarence Leon Bennett. She retired from Strickland Mills and attended Corinth Baptist Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Vickie Pringle of Valdosta; one son, Ricky Hatcher of Valdosta; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Mary Holcomb of Lake Park, Betty and Lowell Napier of Valdosta; nine grandchildren, George Pringle, Daphne Hatcher, Deborah Pringle all of Valdosta, Buck Hatcher of Arcadia, FL, Brandy Henderson of Valdosta, Nikki Hatcher of Rome, Matthew Hall of Valdosta, Mirinda Hatcher of Rome, Taylor Hatcher of Valdosta; 12 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, March 4, 2005 in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home. Dr. Henry Cannington will officiate. Burial will follow at Sunset Hill Cemetery.
