Bertha Southall Steinberg

Bertha Steinberg, 89, of Valdosta, died on Sunday, September 19, 2010 at Langdale Hospice House. She was born on November 22, 1920 in Clyattville to the late Jim & Nina Southall. Mrs. Steinberg was a homemaker, a member of Northside Baptist Church, The Coffee Club and had worked at Fads n Fashions.

Survivors include a daughter and son in law, Carol & Charles Mizell of Barney, three sons and daughters in law, James & Teresa Steinberg, David & Marcia Steinberg, and Charles & Debbi Steinberg, all of Valdosta; nine grandchildren and their spouses, Lisa & Richard Chafin, Bart & Stephanie Mizell, Jamy & Karen Steinberg, Billy & Dorothy Steinberg, all of Valdosta, Chad & Jennie Steinberg of Tifton, Christy & Jeremy Allbritton, Stacy & Chris Kendrick, all of Valdosta, David & Lesa Steinberg of Jacksonville and Brooke & Charles White of Valdosta. Also surviving are 11 great grandchildren, a brother and sister in law, Leroy & Sheila Southall of Hahira and a sister and brother in law, Marie & Charles Carter of Statenville. She is preceded in death by her husband, David Steinberg, Sr.; and two sisters, Jimmie Lee Watkins, and Clifford Newcomb.

Funeral services for Mrs. Steinberg will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, September 21, 2010 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home. Rev. Bob Willis and Rev. Charlie Scarbrough will officiate. Burial will follow at Sunset Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home this evening, Monday September 20, 2010 from 6 until 8 p.m. Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to Langdale Hospice House, 2263 Pineview Dr., Valdosta, GA 31602.
