Herbert (Bert) Harry Scruggs, Jr.



Bert Scruggs passed away at his residence, Thursday, February 9, 2012. He was born in Hahira, Georgia at Smith Hospital on February 26, 1962 to the late Herbert Harry and Betty Scruggs of Hahira. He attended the Hahira schools and was a 1980 graduate of Lowndes High School. He lived most of his life in Hahira.

He is survived by two sisters, Nancy Pennington (Gary) of Highland, California, and Emily Morgan (Mike) of Tavares, Florida, niece Jennifer Morgan Silverio and husband Christopher of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, and nephew Jeffrey Morgan of Arlington, Texas; aunts Mabel Scruggs of Hahira and Hilda (Ralph) Brown of Valdosta; Dot Carter of Quitman, Jimmie Mae (Earl) Wall of Albany, Emmie Johnston of Sarasota; Gussie Ree Peak of Morgan, uncle, Ben Clenney of Albany; and a multitude of cousins and a group of very good friends in Hahira and Lowndes County.

Bert was employed at the United States Postal Service and also worked at Postle Distributing.

A celebration of Bert's life will be held in the chapel of the Martin McLane Funeral Home, Hahira, at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 14, 2012. Family will continue to receive friends after the service from 5:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. Condolences to the family may be conveyed online at www.mclanecares.com.

Bert was a loyal friend and will be greatly missed.
