Bernise Queenette Merritt

August 7, 1954 — July 10, 2015

Bernise Queenette Merritt, 60, of Valdosta, died on Friday, July 10. 2015 at South Georgia Medical Center following a lengthy illness. She was born in Jennings, Florida on August 7, 1954 to the late Henry and Charlie Mae Merritt. She was a homemaker and was a member of the Universal Deliverance Church where she was actively involved in the youth group. Ms. Merritt exhibited her faith through her caring heart, sweet spirit and the ability to reach out and help any who were in need. She will be greatly missed by all her knew her.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Cassandra and Christopher Fiffie of Sweeney, Texas; a son, Paul Merritt and a daughter Kayla Merritt and a son and daughter-in-law, Tyre and Renee Merritt all of Valdosta; her godchildren, Brandon Gosier, Ponzellar Davis, Amey Frost, Samuel Patrick, and Darrell Grover; her grandchildren, Quinton James, Lasondra Merritt, Roman Fiffie, Christopher Fiffie, Isaac Fiffie, Ezekial Fiffie, Trenton Merritt, Zachary Fiffie, Sarah Fiffie, Elisha Fiffie, and Caes Merritt; her great-grandchildren, Jasmahry James, Julian James, Lamar Merritt; her siblings, Cassie Ann Andres of Atlanta, Maggie Roberson and her husband Willie Roberson of Valdosta, and Audrey Merritt of Thomasville; aunts and uncles, James Knight, Doris Knight, Al Barkin; cousins, Angela Fuller, Bianca Hosendolph, Shanika Sams, Willie Rowe, Laura Akins, Lakisha Brown, Latonya Fleming, Katrina Fleming, Brittnee Fleming, Dante Fleming, Mychael Fleming, Joslyn Fleming, Lucinda Brown; special mention to Pastor Naomi McCowan, Gwen Irvin, Harvey Daniels, Louise Taylor, Wanda Sims, Minnie, and Pamela Gray. Ms. Bernise has joined her mother, Charlie Mae Merritt, her two special sisters, Mattie Patrick and Bernetha McCray, her uncle, Johnell and cousins, Kathleen and Leon all in Heaven.
A family memorial service for Bernise Queenette Merritt will be held on Saturday, July 18, 2015 at 11 a.m. at Carson McLane Funeral Home. Condolences to the family may be conveyed online at www.mclanecares.com.
