Bernice Catherine Boughton

Bernice Catherine Boughton, 87, of Valdosta, died on Saturday, February 18, 2012 at her residence following a short illness. She was born on September 27, 1924 in Indianapolis, Indiana to the late George and Alma Schmidt Hausz. Mrs. Boughton was a homemaker and a member of the Messiah Lutheran Church. She was also a long-time member of the Valdosta Country Club and the Elks Club.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Joe, Jr. and Marilyn Boughton of Alpharetta, Georgia and Mike and Teressa Boughton of Valdosta; grandchildren, Kelly and Zach Brooks and Joe Boughton III all of Woodstock, Georgia and Jennifer and Billy Okuma of Monroe, Georgia; great-grandchildren, Alana Okuma of Monroe, Georgia, Kendall Okuma of Valdosta, Aryssa Brooks of Woodstock, Georgia and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Boughton, Sr., and an infant daughter Donna Boughton.

Services for Bernice Boughton will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, February 20, 2012 in the chapel or the Carson McLane Funeral Home with Pastor Joshua Brown officiating. The burial will follow in the McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 3-5 p.m. at the funeral home.
