Benny Jackson Smith

Benny Jackson Smith, 66, of Valdosta, died on Tuesday, August 27, 2019 at Langdale Hospice House. He was born in Valdosta on September 3, 1952 to the late Robert Jackson Smith and Latrelle Pittman Smith. He retired after 20 years of service to our country from the United States Navy. He attained the rank of Petty Officer 1st Class and served as a flight engineer. He also worked for a time with the Valdosta Airport and Naval Air Station Key West, Florida.
He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Cindy Smith of Valdosta; his son, Exit Smith of Havanna, Florida; his daughter, Mendi Young of Firestone, Colorado; his grandchildren, Thomas Smith, Samuel Smith, and Maggie Smith; his uncle, Joe Smith of Valdosta; his first cousins, Lonnie Smith of Atlanta, Beverly Turner, Sandra Lucas, and Ronnie Lieupo, all of Valdosta; his step-mother, Mary Ann Smith of Clyattville. He was preceded in death by his sister, Barbara Cantrell.
