Benjamin Jordan Perkins

Benjamin Jordan Perkins, 82, of Valdosta and formerly of Thomasville, passed away Monday, May 2, 2016, at Lakehaven Nursing Home after a lengthy illness.
He was born May 14, 1933, in Colquitt County, a son of the late William L. and Willie Hobby Perkins. After graduating from Thomasville High School with the Class of 1951, he honorably served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He had also graduated from Birdwood Junior College, Thomasville, and received his Bachelor's Degree in Education from Valdosta State University. Mr. Perkins was a member of New Life Presbyterian Church in Tifton, he loved gardening and was a faithful blood donor, donating over thirty gallons.
The family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to the staff at Lakehaven Nursing Home for the wonderful care and comfort that they provided to Mr. Perkins and his family.
He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Stephen Anthony Perkins and Vilma of Columbus, James Timothy Perkins and Jeanette of Maricopa, AZ; two daughters and sons-in-law, Dawn Perkins Brown and Thomas of Lake Park, and Emily Perkins Funk and James of Thomasville; eight grandchildren, Renee Perkins, Stephanie Perkins Mainor, Garrett Perkins, Michael Brown, Melissa Brown Papa, Jennifer Brown, Melissa Funk and Cynthia Funk; one sister, Imogene Perkins Heninger of Dublin; and many beloved nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Harriet Melissa Stephens Perkins; two brothers, William Leonard Perkins, Jr. and Leonard Olin Perkins; and two sisters, Ouida Perkins Hudson and an infant sister.
