Ben T. Johnson

BEN T. JOHNSON, 63, of Valdosta died Thursday, February 9, 2006 at the Lakehaven Nursing Home after a lengthy illness. He was born on May 25, 1942 in Lowndes County to Carolyn Burgsteiner Johnson and the late Carl David Johnson, Sr. and was a lifelong resident of Lowndes County. Mr. Johnson was a member of the Central Church of Christ and a retired insurance salesman. He was a veteran of the United States Army and had dedicated more than 20 years to Valdosta’s youth by coaching at the Boys and Girls Club of Valdosta.

Survivors include a daughter and son in law, Laura and Todd Griggs of Flowery Branch, son and daughter in law, Jaret and Jennifer Johnson of Valdosta, two grandchildren, Kaylee Johnson and Tyler Griggs, his mother, Carolyn B. Johnson of Valdosta, a brother and a sister in law, Carl David II and Margaret Johnson of Valdosta, sister in law and brother in law, Nancy and Jim Sparks of Connecticut and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Janice Eddins Johnson.

Funeral services will be held at 11am, Monday, February 13, 2006 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with Mr. John Klimko officiating. Burial will follow in Riverview Memorial Gardens.
