Beetsy McMichael, 92, of Valdosta died Sunday, February 11, 2018 at Langdale Hospice House. She was born on May 25, 1925 in Worth County, Georgia to the late Allen Preston and Effie Estelle Denby Dykes. Mrs. McMichael was a faithful member of the Northside Baptist Church where she had served as Preschool Director for many years. She received her certificate from the Stenotype Secretarial School in Augusta and then became employed with the USDA in Atlanta. She was a published author of Break Bread Together cookbook and a member of the Georgia Power Ambassadors. Mrs. McMichael had served as a Pink Lady at Pineview General Hospital and had been a certified Life Guard and Swimming Instructor with the Red Cross.
Survivors include her daughter and son in law, Nancy and Corky Mahan of Riverton, Wyoming; her son and daughter in law, Lee and Mary McMichael of Gainesville, GA; her grandchildren, Misty Wright, Michael Hall, Austin McMichael, Lucy McMichael; two great grandchildren, Brittany Sellars and Hannah Wright. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray A. McMichael; four brothers, Marcus Dykes, Earl Dykes, Belton Dykes, J. D. Dykes and four sisters, Lillian Hobby, Lois Coley, Chlocile Massey, Hester Dykes.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00am, Thursday, February 15, 2018 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with Rev. Paul Owens officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Hill Cemetery.
