Beatrice McCranie Rodgers, 88, of Valdosta died peacefully Friday, June 21, 2013 surrounded by her family. She was born in Alton, Florida on April 11, 1925 to the late Andrew Jackson McCranie and Sarah Etta Hendrix McCranie. Mrs. Rodgers was a founding and faithful member of the Northside Baptist Church where she was a member of the Naomi Sunday School Class. She enjoyed gardening, bird watching and cooking. Bea was happiest when hosting her family for the holidays and special occasions. She enjoyed spending time and fishing with her husband the late Jimmy Rodgers at the family farm. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law Larry and Dawn Rodgers and her daughter and son-in-law, Teresa and Gary Minchew all of Valdosta, grandchildren, Robin Moore and her husband, Jay Moore of Atlanta, Jim Rodgers and his wife, Jackie Rodgers of Valdosta, Britt Bugby and her husband, Wade Bugby; Stephanie Hughes and her husband, Thad Hughes all of Valdosta, Tiffany Cox and her husband Stan Cox, Jr. of Atlanta, GA Courtney Reynolds and her husband, Sean Reynolds of Atlanta; great grandchildren, Ryan Reynolds, Reagan Reynolds, Carson Reynolds, Jenna Reynolds, Catherine Claire Reynolds, Braden Reynolds, Alden Cox, Will Moore, Jessica Moore, Cole Rodgers, Clark Rodgers, Rod Hughes, Cadee Hughes and Jack Hughes; brother and sister-in-law, Owen and Lyrice McCranie of Valdosta, sister-in-law, Jeanette McCranie of Valdosta, her special friend, Louie Flythe of Valdosta. The family would like to express their appreciation to caregivers, Gloria Smith and Carolyn Sculley and to her many other caregivers. She was preceded in death in by her husband of fifty seven years, Jimmy Rodgers, a brother, John D. McCranie and two sisters, Margaret Arnold and Mildred Weeks.
A visitation for Mrs. Rodgers will be held on Sunday, June 23, 2013 at the Carson McLane Funeral Home from 12:30 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. A private graveside services will be held at Sunset Hill Cemetery.
