Barney Oldfield Garrison

BARNEY OLDFIELD GARRISON, 88, of Hahira died Monday, June 5, 2006 at his home. He was born on April 15, 1918 in Jefferson, Georgia to the late Lone (Lum) and Frances Nunn Garrison and had lived in Hahira for many years. Mr. Garrison was a veteran of the United States Army Infantry serving during World War II where he went ashore at Normandy Beach. He enjoyed gardening, cutting grass, working outside and fishing. Mr. Garrison was a member of the Shiloh Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Fields Garrison.

Survivors include two sons and a daughter in law, Jack and Winona Garrison of Douglasville, GA., Fred Garrison of Carrollton, GA, a daughter and son in law, Donna and Stan Marler of Douglasville, two grandchildren, Jessica Garrison and Jake Garrison, two sisters, Elaine Marquis of California and Ruth Christiano of Winter Haven, Fla., brother and sister in law, Tom and Kay Garrison of Connecticut, brother in law, Lebo Centanni of New Orleans, a nephew and wife, Jerry and Beth Alderman of Blackshear and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his twin brother, Billy Sunday Garrison, three sisters and three brothers in law, Delree and Dr. Arthur Appleyard, Mary and George (Red) Linley, Mickey Centanni and Larry Marquis.

Funeral services will be held at 11am, Friday, June 9, 2006 in the chapel of Martin/McLane Funeral Home with the Rev. Lynn Hurley officiating. Burial will follow in the Shiloh Cemetery.
