Barbara Tomlinson, 83, of Valdosta, peacefully passed away on Sunday, February 16, 2025 at Langdale Hospice House. She was born on September 19, 1941, in St. Petersburg, FL to the late Robert Louis Maier and Alma Katherine Pendley Maier. Barbara dedicated over 50 years to her work as a mortgage lender, impacting numerous families along the way. Known for her welcoming nature, she effortlessly connected with everyone and found joy in celebrating others. Actively involved in Northside Baptist Church, Barbara loved singing in the church choir, serving on multiple church committees, and working with the children's ministry. Her love for travel and cruising with friends was evident, as was her presence at lunch outings with dear companions. She had a special affinity for all things that sparkled and shined, and her passionate support extended to being a devoted Florida State Seminoles and Tampa Bay Buccaneers fan.
Barbara is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, James Robert and Cheryl Tomlinson, of Ocala, FL, Jason Maier and Dana Tomlinson, of Tallahassee, FL; her grandchildren, Spencer Tomlinson (Roshan), Sarah Tomlinson, and James David Tomlinson. She is also survived by her brother and sisters-in-law, James and Dale Maier of Bradenton, FL, and Carol Maier of Greenville, SC; her niece Lori Maier, of Orlando, FL, nephew Ryan Maier, of Bradenton, FL, and cousin Karen Hall (Bill), of Springfield, MO. She was preceded in death by her husband Dr. Robert Jones.
A memorial service will be held at 2pm on Saturday, February 22, 2025 at Northside Baptist Church with Reverend Bob Willis and Dr. Robby Foster officiating. She will be placed in the mausoleum at McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens beside her husband. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Northside Baptist Church, 200 E.
