Barbara Schmidt Williamson

Barbara Schmidt Williamson, 69, of Valdosta, died Wednesday, November 24, 2010 at Langdale Hospice House. She was born in Moultrie, GA on February 28, 1941 to the late David and Mattie Rutland Barfield. Mrs. Williamson was a homemaker and a member of Azalea City Church of God.

She is survived by her children and their spouses, Janet S. and Bryan Strickland of Valdosta, Donald Schmidt of Minneapolis, MN, Steven and Karen Schmidt of Lake Park, Karen Schmidt of Valdosta, David A. and Penelope Schmidt of Valdosta, Pam and Jeff Hammock of Clyattville, grandchildren, Katie Brown (Eric), Chris Spurlock, Josh Strickland, Kristen Wade (Tori), Jamie Schmidt, Bryan Schmidt, Alex Opel-Schmidt, Kayla Schmidt, Amanda Schmidt, Brandon Bass (Falon), Brandi Umpleby (Albert), Matt Furey, Josh Hammock, Travis Hammock, Nick Hammock and Tyler Hammock, one sister, Betty Jean Foskey of Valdosta, lifelong friend, Patty Mahas of Brookfield, WI, caregiver and friend, Lorraine Robertson of Valdosta, three sisters in law, Lillian Barfield, Gwen Barfield and Pearl Barfield, one brother in law, Pafford Carter, numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Mrs. Williamson is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, James A. Schmidt and seven siblings.

Funeral services will be held Monday, November 29, 2010 at two p. m. in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home with Reverend Tommy Bussey officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from six until eight p. m. Sunday at the funeral home.
