Barbara Sapp, 81, of Valdosta, died on Friday, December 18, 2020 following a period of declining health. She was born on May 15, 1939, in Lumpkin, Georgia to the late Sam and Nan Griffin Walton. Mrs. Sapp retired as a House Parent from Georgia Christian Children’s Home and was a member of the Forrest Park Church of Christ. She was a loving wife and devoted mother and grandmother. Her family was blessed for her love, inspiration, and presence in their lives. She deeply loved her family and friends as well as her “children” at the children’s home.
She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Dallas Sapp, Jr., of Valdosta; a son, Michael Sapp, and a daughter, Pamela Sapp, both of Valdosta; two grandsons, Scotty Sapp and his wife, Lauren, of Brunswick, and Todd Sapp of Valdosta; four great-grandchildren, Skylie Sapp, Layla Sapp, Lilly Sapp, and Brody Sapp; a brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Pam Walton of Kentucky; one niece, Debra Henderson of Jacksonville, Florida. She was preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Sandra Sapp.
A graveside service for Barbara Sapp will be held on Wednesday, December 23, 2020 at 2 p.m. at the McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens with Mr. Wes Hazel officiating. The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the Carson McLane Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made through Forrest Park Church of Christ to the Latin Americans Missions Children’s Home.
