Barbara Joan Edmondson

Barbara Joan Edmondson, 76, of Valdosta died Wednesday, June 3, 2015 at Langdale Hospice House. She was born on October 9, 1938 in Berea, KY to the late David Hugh Martin and Airlie Clara Fletcher Martin. Mrs. Edmondson graduated from Peabody College in Nashville, TN with a masters degree in business education. She taught in the business department at Valdosta High School and retired in 1999. Mrs. Edmondson was a musician. She played piano, organ and sang. Mrs. Edmondson traveled with a ladies trio while in college. She was a member of Strummers Act II, a senior citizens ukulele group. Mrs. Edmondson was an avid quilter and past member of the local Quilters Guild. She had a heart for missions and was a past president of a local missionary society. Mrs. Edmondson was a Sunday school secretary for many years and was a member of Northside Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband of fifty five years, Davie J. Edmondson of Valdosta, three sons, Davie J. Edmondson, Jr. and his wife Dawn of Franklin, TN, Robert H. Edmondson and his wife, Dana of Valdosta and Jeffrey B. Edmondson of Fairview, KS, one daughter, Michelle (Shelli) Shelton and her husband, Richard (Rick) Shelton of Hahira, six grandchildren, Jacob Edmondson, Jera Edmondson, Sean Shelton, Hunter Shelton, Logan Edmondson and Brady Edmondson.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, June 7, 2015 at two p. m. in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home with Dr. Robby Foster, Reverend Brian Sayre and Reverend Charles Barden officiating. Burial will follow at New Bethel Cemetery. The family will receive friends from six until eight p. m. Saturday at the funeral home.
