Barbara Jean Jernigan Armentrout

Barbara Jean Jernigan Armentrout, 68, of Valdosta passed away on Wednesday, November 7, 2007 at the Langdale Hospice House after a seventeen year battle with cancer. She was born on April 14, 1939 in Hahira to the late Thomas Franklin and Frances Iduma Jones Jernigan and was a lifelong resident of this area. Mrs. Armentrout was a member of the Bemiss Road Baptist Church. She enjoyed serving the Lord, loved her grandchildren, enjoyed spending time with her family, reading and playing bingo.

Survivors include a daughter and son in law, Vicky and Johnny Wheeler of Valdosta, four sons and daughters in law, Fred and Melissa Armentrout of St. Mary’s, GA., Lewis and Rhea Armentrout of Valdosta, Curtis and Charlotte Armentrout of Naylor, Travis and Tina Armentrout of Valdosta, 10-grandchildren, Leslie Griffis, Colby Wheeler, Cory Wheeler, Daniel Armentrout, Shelby Armentrout, Karie Armentrout, Nicole Armentrout, Rachel Armentrout, Justin Armentrout and Christa Armentrout, two great grandchildren, Madison Griffis and Alex Griffis, four sisters, Mary Shiver, Geneva Stewart both of Valdosta, Maydell Wilkerson of Fernandina Beach, Fla. and Linda Ellis of Acworth, five brothers, Raymond Jernigan of Nashville, Gene Jernigan of Greenville, SC., Tommy Jernigan of Fitzgerald, Charles Jernigan and Robert Jernigan both of Valdosta. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin F. Armentrout, Ret. First Class Sgt. U. S. Army, a daughter, LaVerne Armentrout and two brothers, James Jernigan and Jody Jernigan.

Funeral services will be held at 11am, Saturday, November 10, 2007 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with Dr. Danny Edwards officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Hill Cemetery.
