Barbara Jean Cole Cozart

Barbara Jean Cole Cozart, 73 years old, died on Tuesday, October 1, 2014 at the Langdale Hospice House in Valdosta, GA. Mrs. Cozart was surrounded by her family as she moved from her earthly life to her heavenly reward. She had bravely fought cancer for the past 18 months. Her strong will to live, unwavering faith in God, and the love and prayers of family and friends sustained her through her final days.
Mrs. Cozart was born on October 11, 1940, in Sarasota, FL, and grew up in Jacksonville, FL. She was raised by her Grandparents, Eugene and Ruth Winningham.
Known for her knowledge, respect, and love of God and His word, Mrs. Cozart lived her life as a true soldier of the Cross. She possessed a contagious smile and a quirky sense of humor. Throughout her life she maintained a sweet and simple demeanor that won the trust and hearts of many, who even now are being changed by her teaching and living of God's word, constant nurturing, love, and faith.
Mrs. Cozart graduated with honors from Robert E. Lee High School in Jacksonville, FL, in 1958. It was in Jacksonville that she met Harold Cozart. Married for 41 years, Barbara and Harold raised their 3 sons, Ken, Tim, and Danny, over the years in both Jacksonville and Valdosta. Possessing a true servant's heart, Mrs. Cozart faithfully cared for family and friends, raising her children in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.
Mrs. Cozart was a gentle, humble, faithful, caring servant who loved the Word of God and spent her life as a pattern of good works teaching others. She was an active member of the Forrest Park Church of Christ, where she taught the Word of God to all ages, her favorite being the babies in cradle roll. Mrs. Cozart taught Kindergarten at Georgia Christian School for 10 years and later retired from the Valdosta City School System in 2006.
Mrs. Cozart was preceded in death by her grandparents, Eugene and Ruth Winningham and her husband, Harold Cozart.
Mrs. Cozart is survived by 3 sons: Ken and Teresa Cozart of Hixson, TN; Tim Cozart and Brenda Cozart of Orange Park, FL; Danny and Amy Cozart of Valdosta; Like Lois in II Timothy 2:4-5, Mrs. Cozart, also strove to insure sincere faith in her grandchildren: Amanda and Eric Moore of Soddy Daisy, TN; Joshua Cozart of Hixson, TN; Emily and Daniel Fausz of Huntsville, AL; Mathew and Drew Cozart of Orange Park, FL and Abby and Anna Cozart of Valdosta, and one Great-Grandchild, Jennifer Vandergriff of Soddy Daisy, TN.

Funeral services will be held at 11am, Saturday, October 4, 2014 at Forrest Park Church of Christ with Mr. Don Garner and Mr. Ryan Tuten officiating. Burial will follow in the Dasher Cemetery with Mr. Ray Joyner officiating at the graveside. The family will receive friends on Friday from 6-8pm at the Carson McLane Funeral Home.
