Barbara Ann Brooks, 64, of Naylor died Monday, January 7, 2013 at South Georgia Medical Center. She was born in Lowndes County on April 15, 1948 to the late James Earl Hunter, Sr. and Bertha Mae Plair Hunter. Mrs. Brooks was a member of the Corinth Baptist Church and currently attending Northside Baptist Church. She enjoyed shopping with her granddaughter and spending time with her beloved pet and faithful friend, Gus.
Survivors include her husband, James R. Brooks of Naylor, stepson and stepdaughter in law, Jamie and Morgan Brooks of Clyattville, granddaughter, Dallas Brooks of Clyattville, her sister, Sandra Watson of Naylor, five brothers and four sisters in law, Jesse Van and Lenora Hunter, Robert and Gail Hunter, Earl and Karen Hunter, Fred and Betty Hunter, Donald Hunter all of Valdosta, sister in law, June Hunter of Vidalia, numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Melissa Diane Warren, two brothers, Dale Hunter, Jimmy Hunter and her grandparents, Lubie Godwin and Willie K. Godwin.
Funeral services will be held at 2pm, Thursday, January 10, 2013 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with Rev. Stanley Luke and Rev. Bob Willis officiating. Burial will follow in the Carter Cemetery in Echols County. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 6-8pm at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Humane Society, 307 E.
