Barbara Ann Bowman Norris

Barbara Ann Bowman Norris, 87, of Valdosta died Monday, May 11, 2015. She was born on December 16, 1927 in Waycross, GA, the daughter of Richard and Annie Bowman. Barbara married Charles Norris in 1952 and they moved to Valdosta, GA where she became active in the community and raised her two daughters. She was a charter member of Park Avenue United Methodist Church, the Fellowship Sunday School Class and sang in the Chancel Choir for many years. Barbara was active in several Bridge Clubs, enjoyed sewing, needlework, knitting and painting. She loved to cook and won Valdosta Daily Times cookbook contest.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her sister, Annette Nabers and is survived by her husband of 62 years, Charles Norris, her children, Annette Crosby (Derry) of Valdosta and Patti DuBose (Ted) of Brunswick, a brother, R. D. Bowman of Gainesville, FL, four grandchildren, Courtney McCrary (Ryan), Justin Crosby (Kelly), Casey Wasinger (John) and Cara Bell (Jack), two great grandchildren, Jack Crosby and Caroline Crosby and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 13, 2015 from one until two p. m. at the Carson McLane Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at two p. m. in the chapel. Reverend Hale Bishop and Reverend David Tart will officiate. Burial will follow at McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens.
