Avalene Teems

Avalene Teems, 79 of Lake Park, died on Monday, May 21, 2007 at South Georgia Medical Center after a short illness. Born in 1928 in Bartow County, she was the daughter of the late Clark and Clara Bell Bennett Towe. She was a seamstress having worked for Taylors Clothing, Trippingers Clothiers and later from her home. She loved to work in her flowers and cook for her family. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Lake Park.

Survivors are her son, John Teems of Atlanta; daughters and sons-in-law, Vickie and James Byrd of Lake Park, Felica and Ed Yarbrough of Valdosta; sisters and brothers-in-law, Glenda and Charles Howell of Cartersville, Rita and Wallace Clark and Mary Ann and George Pearson all of Adairsville; grandchildren and their spouses, Joanna and Dan Phelps of Lake Park, Zane and Richie Gaston of Madison, FL, Jamie and Renee Byrd of Lake Park, Emily Byrd of Lake Park, Reece Yarbrough, Ryan Yarbrough and Kyle Yarbrough all of Valdosta, and four great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her sister, Mattie Lois Jones.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 24, 2007 in the chapel of the McLane Lakewood Funeral Home with Reverend John Akers officiating. Burial will follow at Lake Park Cemetery.
