Augustine "Gus" Owens, 76, of Valdosta, Georgia, passed away on February 22, 2025. Born on December 31, 1948, in Birmingham, Alabama, Gus lived a life of service, devotion, and quiet strength.
A proud veteran of the United States Air Force, Gus dedicated his career to serving his country with honor. In retirement, he embraced the things that brought him joy—cheering on his beloved Alabama Crimson Tide, watching his grandchildren play various sports, spending time with his family, and getting lost in the pages of a Stephen King novel.
He is survived by his loving wife, Yvette Owens; his children, William, Kimberly, Stacy, and Marie; and his cherished grandchildren. His legacy of kindness, dedication, and unwavering love for his family will be carried on through them.
A service to honor Gus’s life will be held at 11am on Tuesday, March 4, 2025 in the chapel of the Carson Mclane Funeral Home. Burial will follow at McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens.
