Audrey Elizabeth Jones Peters

AUDREY ELIZABETH JONES PETERS, 83, of Valdosta, passed away Wednesday, January 14, 2009, at South Georgia Medical Center after a short illness. She was born on April 26, 1925 in Perrine, FL, to the late Irvin and Verdie Duggan Jones.

Mrs. Peters retired from Wing Personnel at Moody Air Force Base in 1985 and was a member of NARF. She was a member of Central Avenue Church of Christ, where she was active in all areas of the church, including teaching Sunday School. She enjoyed gardening, sewing and cooking.

In addition to her husband, Joel R. Peters, Jr., she is survived by their children, Joel R. Peters III and wife Pam, Elizabeth Teasley, Rebecca Wisenbaker, all of Valdosta, Karen and husband Tom Nunnally of Morganton, and Ferres and husband Greg Bell of McDonough; eight grandchildren, Victoria and Claire Peters, Patrick and Jane Teasley, Cameron West, Lindsay, Cardin Scott and Samuel August Bell; three sisters, Iva Parker of Jonesboro, Verdie Mae Carter and Francine and husband Orrie Coppage, all of Valdosta; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by a brother, Irvin Jones, Jr.

Services will be held at 2 pm Saturday, January 17, 2009 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with Mr. Brian Jarvis and Mr. John Klimko officiating. Entombment will follow in the Riverview Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
