Arvella Fern Brewer, 80, of Valdosta, passed away on Friday, March 7, 2014, at Langdale Hospice House after a lengthy illness.
She was born May 14, 1933 in Bowie, TX, a daughter of the late Robert L. and Junnie Willis James. She was a member of Swilley Hill Church of God; she loved God, her family, especially her grandchildren, and NASCAR. She enjoyed attending her granddaughter Brittney's Hobby Horse Corral Barrel Racing, and was their #1 fan. Mrs. Brewer never met a stranger and had a great sense of humor.
She is survived by four daughters and three sons-in-law, Denise and Bob Tebedo of Valdosta, Diane and Jimmy Carter of Statenville, Linda Staten of Statenville, and Patricia and Gregory Britcher of Iowa; seven sons and three daughters-in-law, Sam Brewer of Oklahoma, Don Staten of Statenville, Tommy and June Staten of Statenville, Gary Brewer and Allen Brewer of Illinois, Jesse Brewer of Washington, and Weldon & Mildred Brewer of Oklahoma; thirty grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and one brother, Robert James of Oklahoma. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Jesse Brewer; and eight siblings.
The Funeral Service for Mrs. Brewer will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, March 9, 2014, at the Chapel of McLane Lakewood Funeral Home with Pastor Wayne Owens and Pastor Keith Allsbrook officiating. Interment will follow at Hickory Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
