Mr. Arnold O. Williams, 87, of Hahira, died Monday Dec. 08, 2008 at South Georgia Medical Center. Mr. Williams was born in Lake City, Florida on October 24th, 1921 to the late John David and Edna Gertrude May Williams. He grew up living in several small towns in south GA including Hahira where he met his future wife Patricia Parrott. Mr. Williams was a Veteran of WWII serving in the Army Air Corps. He was a B-17 bomber pilot and on a mission over Germany was shot down, captured and imprisoned in the infamous German prison camp Stalag 1. After the war Mr. Williams returned to Hahira and married Patricia. He attended the University of Florida and graduated with a degree in Pharmacy and an addiction to Gator Football. He was a Gator fan and a season ticket holder for over fifty five years. After graduation he and Patsy made their home first in Fort Lauderdale FL, then Pompano Beach where he practiced Pharmacy and they reared two daughters, Patrice and Kim.
After retirement in 1994 he and Patsy made Hahira their home. They immediately became active in the community and the Hahira United Methodist Church. Mr. Williams was elected to the Hahira City Council in 1996 and served until 2000. He was a charter member of the Hahira Historical Society, a member of the Hahira American Legion Post 218, a Mason, a Shriner and an Elk.
Mr. Williams is survived by two daughters and sons in law, Patrice W. and John Kraholik of Hahira and Kim and Bob Lutz of Wake Forrest NC, seven grandchildren, Scott Williams and his wife, Jocelyn, Robyn O\'Bryon, June Britt Kraholik, Jon Todd Kraholik, Jessie Qin Lutz and Halle Jiang Lutz and Elise Shurong Lutz, three great-grandchildren, Brittany O\'Bryon, Erin June Williams and Eimile Caitlin Williams, two sisters, Ruthie Mashburn of Thomasville and Vera Vick of Moultrie, three brothers, Roy Williams, Dale Williams of Berlin, GA, and Doug Williams of Colorado; brother-in-law and sister in law, Dr. Jesse L. and Nancy Parrott of Hahira. He is predeceased by his wife, Patricia Parrott Williams, five brothers, James Williams, John Williams, Julian Williams, Charles Williams and Ben Williams and his stepmother, Eppie Williams.
Funeral services will be held at the Hahira United Methodist Church at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, December 13th, 2008 with burial to follow beside Patsy in Friendship Cemetery in Hahira. The Rev. Ken Morgan and Mr. John Adams will officiate. He will lie in state for one hour prior to service time. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
