Annie Laura Culpepper went to be with the Lord and join her husband in heaven on Sunday, January 21, 2024 just ten days after her 88th birthday. She was born in Clinch County, but spent most of her childhood in Echols County. She moved to Valdosta with her husband in 1954 to raise their family and has stayed until this day.
As a young adult she worked at Owens Illinois bag plant in Clyattville, GA until she retired to focus full time on her family and her gardens. She played sports in her early years basketball being her favorite and even played softball with her teenage daughters. She remained an avid sports fan.
Annie Laura loved to work in her gardens. She liked nothing better than a day of working in her yard where it seemed like there was always something blooming. Her other passion was baking. Her friends knew they could always count on something good coming from her kitchen.
Annie Laura was preceded in death by her mother, Oveda Copeland, her husband, Clifford Culpepper, and her daughter Cindy Auker. She is survived by her children, daughters Susie Tighe (Tim) and Angie Colbert (Ronnie), son Alan Culpepper, grandson Cody Culpepper (Michela) and great grandson Kai Culpepper.
Annie Laura along with her husband were very active members of Charity Baptist Church in Hahira, and always willing to serve in many capacities. She is the best mother we could have hoped for. Loved by many and cherished by her family. She will truly be missed by all who had the privilege to know her.
A memorial service will be held at 2pm on Thursday, January 25, 2024 at the Carson McLane Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1-2pm. Online condolences to the family may be conveyed at www.mclanecares.com
