Annie Jo Henderson Chambers, 68, was born in Echols County on January 18, 1948. A lifelong resident of Echols County, she died peacefully in Statenville, Tuesday morning, April 12, 2016 after a long battle with cancer. Daughter of the late Ferman and Annie Jane Everette Henderson, Annie Jo worked for the Echols County School Board for 38 years, until her retirement. Through her life's work in the lunchroom, which was her ministry, she found joy in serving and caring for three generations of Echols County children and their families. She enjoyed being outdoors, gardening, and working with her flowers and plants. She was a lifelong member of the Statenville Church of God. She was a loving and devoted daughter, sister, wife and mother.
In addition to her parents, Annie Jo is preceded in death by a brother, Wesley Henderson. Survivors are her husband of 42 years, Albert Louis Chambers of Statenville; daughter and son-in-law, Rebecca and William Parramore, Jr. of Statenville; sister and her husband, Glynda and Ira Lavinsky of Adel; many aunts, uncles, cousins, and her extended family by marriage, whom she loved very much. She will be greatly missed by everyone she touched.
Funeral services will be held Friday, April 15, 2016, at 3 p.m. at the Statenville Church of God, with burial to follow at Statenville Cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday from 5 -7 p.m. at McLane Lakewood Funeral Home in Lake Park.
