Anne Turner Sineath

April 22, 1915 — January 28, 2007

Anne Turner Sineath, 91, died Sunday, January 28, 2007, at Langdale Place in Valdosta. The family wishes to thank her devoted home care professionals at Langdale Place and Hospice of South Georgia.

She was born in Valdosta to Mr. and Mrs. Egbert Mann Turner on April 22, 1915. She graduated from Valdosta High School and from the Georgia State Womans College, now known as Valdosta State University, in 1937. After teaching school for several years, she married Mr. John Quentin Sineath, Jr. of Valdosta in 1940. She lived in Long Island, NY, and Redwood City, CA, while her husband was a pilot for Pan American World Airways, before returning to Valdosta in 1950.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Daughters of the American Colonists. An artist and garden lover, Anne’s most cherished role was that of a loving wife, mother and grandmother surrounded by her family on special occasions.

She was preceded in death by her husband and parents; her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. E.L. Turner; her husband’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Q. Sineath; her brother-in-law, Philip Chastain, M.D.; her sister-in-law, Mrs. Virginia Brooks; and a great-granddaughter, Victoria Newsome.

She is survived by her four children and their spouses, Jack and Anne Sineath of Atlanta, Bill and Lucille Sineath of Valdosta, Jim and Monique Sineath of Valdosta, and Martiele and Michael Schroder of Atlanta; eight grandchildren and their spouses, Susan and Doug Calahan, Tricia and Jim Thornton, Margaret Anne and Lee Newsome, Martiele and David Franklin, John Turner Sineath, Brannen and John Chamberlain, Hill Schroder and Elizabeth Schroder; a sister, Martiele Turner, M.D., of Miami, FL; and seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 31, 2007, at 2:00 p.m. at the graveside at Sunset Hill Cemetery. The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Annette Howell Turner Center for the Arts or the Youth Fund at the First United Methodist Church.
