Annabelle Quinn Dykes, aged 7, born on May 21, 2016, gracefully departed this world on January 13, 2024, in the arms of her mother and father in Gainesville, FL. Annabelle, a well-known figure in the Down Syndrome Community from Valdosta, GA, left an indelible mark during her short but impactful life.
A resilient warrior, Annabelle faced deafness and cancer with unwavering strength, inspiring countless people in her community. Her presence resonated in numerous events and fundraisers, making her a cherished member of Valdosta.
In the realm of education, Annabelle attended Scintilla Charter Academy, participating in the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Program as well as Special Needs programs. A graduate of kindergarten, she demonstrated determination and enthusiasm for learning.
Beyond academics, Annabelle immersed herself in the world of ballet and tap at The Ballet School in Valdosta. Fluent in American Sign Language, she used her skills to advocate within the Down syndrome community, becoming a national ambassador for Nothing Down and Children's Miracle Network.
Annabelle is survived by her devoted parents, Blake and Sophie Dykes, her brother Levi Dykes (age 9), and her loving grandparents, Carla and Steve Dykes of Valdosta, and Yvonne and Steve Bullows of Warner Robins, GA. She is also remembered fondly by aunts, uncles, and cousins, including Gabe and Kristin Dykes and their children Savannah and Anson, Greg and Shae Bullows and their children Sydney, Gabriel, and Emilia, as well as James Bullows and Howard Bullows.
A visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday, January 17, 2024 from 4-7pm at the Carson McLane Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 10am on Thursday, January 18, 2024 at the funeral home. Condolences to the family may conveyed online at www.mclanecares.com.
