Anna Brooks Brown Nelson

December 1, 1925 — September 9, 2012

Anna Brooks Brown Nelson, 86, of Valdosta, died on Sunday, September 9, 2012 at the Presbyterian Home in Quitman following a lengthy illness. Born in Paducah, Kentucky, on December 1, 1925, Anna was the daughter of the late William Clyde and Margie Floy Edwards Brown. She grew up in Paducah, graduated from Tillman High School and attended David Lipscomb University. She worked for a number of years as a secretary for several businesses in Paducah and later served as church secretary at New York Avenue Church of Christ in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. In 1950 Anna met and married Robert Nelson. They retired to Trenton, Georgia and then to Dasher in 1999. Mrs. Nelson loved to sing, especially at church and at gatherings. She loved cooking and sharing meals with family and friends and she especially enjoyed the time she spent growing and tending her flowers.
Survivors are her husband of 62 years, Robert L. Nelson, daughter, Lois N. Cox, son and daughter in law, David L. and Sheryl Nelson all of Dasher; daughter and son in law, Robbie J. and Danny DeRamus of Searcy, AR, son, John R. Nelson of Flagstaff, AZ; grandchildren, Anne Marie (Brian) Bohlman of Beaufort, SC, Erin M. Cox of San Francisco, CA, Zachary L. Nelson of Atlanta, Cale D. Nelson, Chaeli E. Nelson, , Benjamin E. Nelson all of Dasher, Rebecca J. DeRamus of Searcy, AR, Kimberly C. DeRamus of Sherwood, AR, Jason R. DeRamus of Searcy, AR, Jacob Nelson of Flagstaff, AZ, Arianna Nelson of Honolulu, HI, Moses Nelson of Flagstaff, AZ; three greatgrandchildren; brother and sister in law, Douglas E., Sr. and Arlene Brown of Henderson, TN; sister and brother in law, Betty B. and David Moore of Paducah, KY and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 13, 2012 at Dasher Church of Christ at 11 am. Mr. Philip Guthrie, Mr. Shane Copeland and Mr. Charles White will officiate. Burial will follow at Dasher Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Carson McLane Funeral Home on Wednesday evening from 5 – 7 p.m. Carson McLane Funeral is serving the family of Mrs. Nelson.
