Ann Goff Stewart, 89, of Valdosta, died on Sunday, August 24, 2014 at Langdale Hospice House. She was born to the late Charles Greer & Annie Chandler Goff in Richmond, VA. The family soon moved to Birmingham, AL due to Mr. Goff's job with the Southern Railroad. They lived there as Mrs. Stewart grew up until the early 40's when her father died. The Goff's then moved to Valdosta to be near other family. As she attended Valdosta High School and began cheering for the Wildcats, she would soon be noticed by a handsome fullback, Charles Stewart. They were married for 54 years, until his death in 1996. Mrs. Stewart was a faithful and dedicated member of First United Methodist Church and a devoted follower of Jesus Christ. The Stewarts were founding members of the Christian Homebuilders Sunday School Class at First Methodist and she was a member of the United Methodist Women. She was a devoted wife and mother, and in her later years, she loved being a grandmother and great grandmother. An active civic volunteer, Mrs. Stewart volunteered in the Valdosta City Schools, and at South Georgia Medical Center as a Pink Lady. A voracious reader of books, she also maintained a beautiful yard and flowers. Fishing with her husband at Ocean Pond and traveling the world together to such places as Greece, Europe and Hawaii were also favorite pastimes. She loved gathering together with her family and will be deeply missed and will be remembered for her devotion and her sense of humor.
Survivors include her daughter and son in law, Ginny & Allen Catoe of Valdosta; two daughters in law, Susan Stewart of Valdosta and Judy Stewart of Norcross; seven grandchildren, Terry Stewart, Jr., Woody Stewart and Alan Stewart, all of Norcross, Nikki Stewart, Robby (Angel) Catoe and Andy Catoe, all of Valdosta and Al (Melina) Catoe of Roswell; and five great grandchildren, Zadie & Charlie Sweat of Valdosta, Ansley Catoe of Rapid City, SD, and Tanner & Ella Catoe of Roswell.
