Anita Zucchi Nelson

Anita Zucchi Nelson, 59, of Valdosta died Wednesday, October 12, 2011 in Palatka, Florida. She was born in Bronx, New York on November 15, 1951 to Lucille Greco Zucchi and the late Harry Zucchi and had lived in Valdosta for many years. Mrs. Nelson was the co-owner of the Oakwood School, LLC and attended the Fargo Church of God. She was a beloved wife, wonderful daughter, sister, mother and grandmother who had a tender heart and sweetness of nature. She is resting peacefully in the arms of our Lord and will be missed.

Survivors include her husband, Laurence A. Nelson of Valdosta, her three children and their spouses, Richard and Sonal Candell of Baltimore, MD., Lori Smart of Franklin, TN. and Rachael and Derek Gibbs of Valdosta, her stepson, Chandler Nelson of Valdosta, her six grandchildren, Kristen Dodd, Madelyn Dodd, Alexi Smart, Loren Smart, Joseph Smart and Erin Candell, her mother, Lucille Zucchi of Valdosta, her sister, Evelyn Uncel of Sierra Vista, AZ., niece, Megan Uncel of Phoenix, AZ., nephew, Christopher Uncel of Sierra Vista, AZ., mother in law, Nora Nelson of Hahira, brother in law and sister in law, Russell and Darien Nelson of Hahira, sisters in law and brothers in law, Beverly Safire of Apopka, Fla., Barbara and Bill Best, Sherry and James Griffith all of Warner Robins. She was preceded in death by her father in law, M.C. Nelson.

Memorial services will be held at 4pm, Saturday, October 15, 2011 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home. The family will receive friends following the memorial service.
