Anita Reissiger

Anita Reissiger, 97 of Valdosta, died on Saturday, September 28, 2024, at Fellowship Home after a period of declining health. Born in Santiago, Chile, on July 26, 1927, she grew up there and graduated from Santiago College in December 1945.

While attending various activities over the years at the Grange School, where her three brothers attended, Anita met John B. Reissiger, also a Grange School student. They married in 1948. 

She was a stay-at-home mother until her third child started school. She worked for the United Nations supporting the head of the United Nations station in Santiago Chile. 

The Reissigers moved to the United States in 1964 to find greater opportunities for their family. In Chicago, Anita worked for the Crane Packing Company as a secretary. When the family moved to Miami in 1966, she worked for the Dow Chemical Company as an executive secretary. Later in Atlanta, she worked for the Dow Chemical Company, and Bank South as an executive secretary. She retired from Bank South in 1989.

Golfing, gardening and especially spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren were favorite pastimes of Anita.

Survivors include her two sons, Robert (& Jan) Reissiger of Fairhope, AL and Richard (& Karen) Reissiger of Valdosta; six grandchildren, J R Reissiger of Vashon, WA, Andrew (& Annie) Reissiger also of Vashon, WA, Erin (& Christian) Greika of Cumming, GA, Brandon (& Christie) Reissiger of Foley, AL, Eric (& Adrienne) Reissiger of Hahira, GA, Carlson “Cal” Reissiger of Valdosta, GA. Also surviving are eight great grandchildren, Sadie & Lucian Reissiger, Gavin & Colin Greika, Claire & Walker Reissiger, and Paisley & Maveric Reissiger; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, John B. Reissiger, two sons, John Andrew Reissiger and Eduardo Reissiger, a granddaughter Elizabeth “Bebe” Reissiger and three brothers, George Elder, Albert Elder and Ernest Elder.

A memorial service for Mrs. Reissiger is tentatively scheduled for 11 am on Saturday, November 9, 2024, in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home.
