Andrew E. Stafford, Jr., 80, of Valdosta, passed away Saturday, March 1, 2014.
He was born January 28, 1934 in Montclair, NJ, and was raised in Bloomfield, NJ. He graduated from New Jersey Institute of Engineering and had honorably served in the U.S. Marine Corps. Mr. Stafford was employed by Lucent, lastly as an instructor, retiring after thirty-five years. In 1989 he moved from Flanders, NJ to Valdosta, and attended Southland Church. He enjoyed eating out, reading, listening to Jazz and sharing his wisdom.
Mr. Stafford is survived by his wife of twenty-four years, Joe Ann Stafford of Valdosta; six children, Bryan C. Stafford of Alpha, NJ, Patricia L. Valdez and husband Juan of Mt. Tabor, NJ, Gail E. Malnarick of Parsippany, NJ, Christian D. Stafford of Tampa, FL, Jarrod J. Stafford of Denver, CO, and Justin J. Stafford of Valdosta; five grandchildren, Geoffrey L. Valdez, Mikaela, Brandon, Michele and Miranda Malnarick; one brother, Royce Stafford and wife Maxine of Boonton, NJ; two sisters, Kara Fleurizard and husband Louis, and Myra Stafford, all of Winton-Salem, NC; his step-mother, Margaret Stafford of Winston-Salem, NC; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Andrew E. Stafford, Sr.; his mother, Ophelia Quince; and a sister, Shirley Deberry.
A Memorial Service for Mr. Stafford will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, March 7, 2014, at the Chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home, with Pastor Mike Bland officiating.
