Andrew Bennett Becton

Andrew Bennett (Bennie) Becton, 76, of Valdosta, passed away Sunday, September 10, 2006 at South Georgia Medical Center after a lengthy illness. He was born August 11, 1930 in Lowndes County to the late James Riley and Annie Jewell Becton. Mr. Becton had a 42 year career in banking and served in the United States Air Force. He was a member of Perimeter Road Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Harriett Shierling Becton of Valdosta, two sons, Bennett Becton of Marietta, GA, Stephen Becton of Valdosta, one daughter and son in law, Becky and Sam Dulaney of Hartwell, GA, two grandchildren, Bennett Dulaney of Valdosta and Whitney Byerly of Peoria, Arizona, two great grandchildren, Gracie Anne Byerly and Allie Christen Byerly, two brothers and sisters in law, Alton and Betty Becton and Julian and Pat Becton of Valdosta. He was preceded in death by one brother, Lavelle Becton.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 13, 2006, at 3 p.m. in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home. Reverend Sam Dulaney of Hartwell, GA will officiate. Burial will follow at Sunset Hill Cemetery.
