Amanda L. Perez, 30, of Valdosta, died on Sunday, January 9, 2011, from injuries received in a fall. Amanda was born in Valdosta on January 29, 1980. An ordained minister, Amanda was a children's minister at New Covenant for 5 years. Recently Amanda taught Sunday School at Solomon's Porch to teenage girls. She was a missionary to Romania and Venezuela. Amanda was pursuing a nursing degree to enhance her missions work. She worked at Fellowship Home as an Activities Director and led devotions to the residents. She faithfully visited with the sick at the hospital.
Survivors are her parents Debra Tackett Perez and Jesus Jaime Perez, Sr. of Hahira; sister and brother in law, Angelica and Mike Busby of Ray City, brothers and sisters in law, Jesus Jaime, Jr. and Sumer Perez of Rancho Cucamonga, California, Daniel Ray and Heather Perez of Jacksonville, Florida; grandmother, Dorothy Tackett of Hahira; nieces and nephews, Jesse and Joseph Busby, Savannah and Alysa Perez, Madison and Piper Perez, as well as several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 12, 2011 at 4 p.m. at New Covenant Church. Pastor L.A. Joiner, Pastor Shannon Patterson and Pastor Randy Stephen will officiate. Burial will follow at McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held at New Covenant on Wednesday prior to the services beginning at 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to the Methodist Children's Home.
