Alvin Clifford "Tip" Culpepper

May 26, 1933 — May 4, 2020

Alvin Clifford “Tip” Culpepper, age 86, went to meet his Lord on Monday, May 4, 2020 after a brave battle against cancer. He was one of three sons born to Jim and Flossie Culpepper and was raised on a small family farm in Echols County. He is preceded in heaven by his mother, father, two brothers Walter Culpepper and Tom Culpepper, and his daughter Cindy Auker.
Tip is survived by his wife of 65 years, Annie Laura Culpepper, daughters Susie Tighe and Angie Colbert, son Alan Culpepper, and grandson Cody Culpepper.
Tip and Annie Laura moved to Valdosta to raise their family in 1954 and have stayed until this day. Tip was a respected employee in the Technical department at Owens-Illinois (a.k.a. PCA) in Clyattville for 36 years before retiring at the age of 62. He really enjoyed his extended retirement.
Tip loved outdoors sports and was well known in Valdosta for his skill with a shotgun and fishing pole. He also loved to coach youth sports in the Valdosta youth leagues. Tip dedicated many years of his life to coach hundreds of kids in the Valdosta recreational leagues for softball, baseball, and basketball.
Tip was very proud of the role he played in building and starting Charity Baptist Church in Hahira, where he was a member until his passing.
A private memorial service will be held on May 6, 2020 at the Carson McLane Funeral Home. Condolences to the family may be conveyed online at www.McLaneCares.com. Carson McLane.
