Alton K. "Al" Hall

Alton Kenneth (Al) Hall, 76, of Valdosta, died on Monday, December 14, 2015 at his home. Mr. Hall was born in Columbus, Georgia on December 3, 1939. He grew up in Dothan, AL, raised by his mother and step-father, Eura Mae & Grover Searcy. He graduated from Chamberlain High School in Tampa, FL and soon went into the U. S. Air Force. While stationed at Moody Air Force Base in the early 60's, he met the former Janice Pike. They were married in 1963. After his military career, the Halls stayed in Valdosta were Mr. Hall attended Valdosta State College and he soon began work there in the Information Technology Department. He continued working in the Information Technology Department, eventually becoming the Assistant Director, until his retirement in the late 90's after 34 years of service. Mr. Hall was a member of Park Avenue United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Janice Pike Hall, of Valdosta; a daughter and son in law, Stacy & Carey Stephens, of Athens; two grandsons, Carey Thomas (Bo) Stephens, Jr. and Henry Hall (Hank) Stephens, both of Athens; a brother and sister in law, Greg & Linda Searcy of Dothan, AL; a sister in law, Kay Pike Perdue of Valdosta. Also surviving are two nephews, Chad (Amanda) Searcy and Adam Searcy, all of Dothan and four great nephews, Dillon, Grayson, Landon & Hudson Searcy, all of Dothan. In addition to his mother and step-father, he is preceded in death by his father and step mother, Word & Korah Hall.
The funeral for Mr. Hall will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, December 16, 2015 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home. Rev. David Tart will officiate. Burial will follow at McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until service time.
