Alton "Al" Swain

Alton Daniel Swain, 77, of Valdosta, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, June 24, 2017. Alton was born in Reidsville, Georgia on September 22, 1939 to the late Hollis Alton Swain and Nellie Kearse Swain. Alton loved the Valdosta Wildcats and the Florida State Seminoles. He enjoyed traveling and spending time with his many nieces and nephews. He was a faithful deacon and lifelong member of Westside Baptist Church. Alton worked in the grocery business at Pantry Pride and Winn Dixie until he retired in 2001.
Alton is survived by his loving wife Geneva Parker Swain; his brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Sue Swain of Havana, Florida; sister-in-law, Eloise P. Blanton of Valdosta; sister-in-law Shirley K. West and husband Mike of Valdosta; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister-in-law Bobbie Ann McDonald and her husband Alton; his brother-in-law Troy A. Parker and his wife Faye; and his brother-in-law Ernie E. Blanton.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 27, 2017 at 4 p.m. with burial to follow at Sunset Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. prior to the service. Condolences to the family may be conveyed at www.mclanecares.com. Carson McLane Funeral Home.
