Alsie Julia Cook, 81, of Valdosta passed away on Thursday, April 20, 2017 at Presbyterian Home in Quitman following a short illness. She was born on May 8, 1935 in Brinson, Georgia to the late Durante W. Gardner and Thelma Yeates Gardner. Alsie was a homemaker who was very involved with her family and church. The real joys in her life were cooking, sewing, gardening and crafts. She was a member of the Remerton United Methodist Church (New Harvest United Methodist) where she served as vacation bible school director, pastor parish committee, and various other activities of the church.
Survivors include her husband of 64 years, Thomas Cook of Valdosta; one daughter Anita Hall of Valdosta; four grandchildren, Darrel Hall, Jr. of Valdosta; Stacy Anderson (Eric) of Hahira; Brittany McElroy (Michael) of Valdosta; Brittney Raymond (Cameron) of Beaufort, SC; seven great grandchildren, Savannah Hall, Ethan Cox, Halle May Cox, Mason Anderson, Trinity McElroy, Levi Raymond and Brice Scruggs. Also surviving is her sister Adonis Williams, her brother Jimmy Gardner, and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by 2 sisters, 5 brothers and a son-in-law Darrel Hall, Sr. The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to Bethany Hospice for their kind and dedicated service on behalf of Mrs. Cook and the family.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Monday, April 24, 2017 in the Mausoleum Chapel at McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens Cemetery with Dr. Clyde Stokes officiating, burial will follow at the cemetery. Condolences to the family may be conveyed online at www.mclanecares.com. Carson McLane.
