Alma Yielding

Alma Yielding, 90, of Hahira and formerly of Valdosta and Albany died Saturday, September 11, 2010 at home surrounded by her family and friends. She was born on August 15, 1920 in Yukon, West Virginia to the late Earle and Carrie Myrtle Daniels Crockett and had lived in this area for many years. She was a member of the Hahira United Methodist Church and former member of Valdosta First United Methodist Church, Albany First United Methodist Church and Tazewell, Virginia Main Street United Methodist Church. She was a member of the United Methodist Women and had served as president of the India Harris Sunday School Class and Circle #5 at Valdosta First United Methodist Church. Mrs. Yielding had served as a Pink Lady at South Georgia Medical Center and as a volunteer at the Soup Kitchen.

Survivors include her five children and their spouses, J. M. and Wylene Yielding of Albany, Sandra and Stan Reaves of Hahira, Bill and Sandra Yielding of Athens, TN., Patti and Grat Atkinson of Tazewell, VA. And Kathy Fuller of Elizabeth City, NC., 11-grandchildren, 18-great grandchildren and 1-great great grandson. She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Jack Yielding, a son in law, Billy Fuller and two brothers and one sister.

Funeral services will be held at 3pm, Tuesday, September 14, 2010 at the Hahira United Methodist Church with Rev. Ken Morgan, Rev. Mike McAfee and Rev. Diane Shedd officiating. Burial will follow in Riverview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 2-3pm at the Parrott Annex Fellowship Hall at Hahira United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Hahira United Methodist Church Building Fund or to the Albany United Methodist Church Women or church choir.
