Alma V. Shirley, soon to be 94, of Valdosta, died Thursday, January 24, 2013 at South Georgia Medical Center after a lengthy illness. She was born in Hahira on January 29, 1919 to the late Burke Auley Vickers and Sulula Lehman Vickers. Mrs. Shirley was a beautician and a homemaker. She was of the Baptist faith. Mrs. Shirley was a special loving lady, mother, wife and loved her family dearly. She loved and lived life to the fullest.
Mrs. Shirley is survived by her son and daughter in law, Elmer Hagan and Vickie Shirley of Jacksonville, FL, three sisters and two brothers in law, Katherine Sims, June and Evans Rambo of Valdosta and Peggy Canady of Oakland, TN, and George Josheff of Madison, WI;and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Elmer Hagan Shirley, seven sisters and six brothers in law, Maggie Mae and Dennis Green, Willie and Fred Voigt, Myrle and Cotis Wicker, Lillian and James Barr, Floyce and Mac Tillman, Virginia and Aaron Gadd and Martha Josheff, one brother and sister in law, D. L. and Toddy Vickers and two brothers in law, Thomas Sims and Billy Canady.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 26, 2013 at eleven a. m. in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Friendship Cemetery.
