Alma Deloach Hingson

Alma D. Hingson, 88, of Valdosta died Wednesday, June 19, 2013 at her home. She was born in Valdosta on March 13, 1925 to the late Ollie J. and Estelle Cowart DeLoach and was a lifelong resident of Valdosta. Mrs. Hingson was a member of the Remerton United Methodist Church and had worked at Southern Bell and Strickland Cotton Mills. She was the family Matriarch, a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Mrs. Hingson was an organizer of TOPS in Valdosta where she had served as Leader. She enjoyed growing her flowers.

Survivors include her son, John C. (Jay) Hingson, III, of Valdosta, her daughters, Janice Bullard of Hahira, Shelia Hingson of Lake Park, four grandchildren, Amanda Hingson Anderson of Lake Park, David Bullard, Jr. and his wife, Tanya Bullard of Tucson, AZ, Dr. Christopher Bullard and his wife, Dr. Haley Bullard of Lake City, FL, Elli Bullard of Hahira, great grandchildren, John Hingson Anderson, Emily Elizabeth Anderson, her brother and sister in law, Nelson and Ramona DeLoach of Lee, FL, two sisters and a brother in law, Faye Lancaster of Eatonton, GA. and Lyndia and Don McAfee of Fayetteville, GA., her devoted dog, Gunny, numerous nieces, nephews and extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, John C. Hingson, Jr., a sister, Dorothy Smith, a brother in law, Ralph Lancaster and a nephew, Allen DeLoach.

Funeral services will be held at 11am, Saturday, June 22, 2013 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Schappaugh officiating. Burial will follow in Wayfare Cemetery.
