Allie Alfred Johannesen, 81, of Valdosta, died on Thursday, March 1, 2018 at South Georgia Medical Center following a lengthy illness. He was born on December 6, 1936 in Macon, Georgia to the late Otto and Pauline Johannesen. He was a veteran of the United States Navy and was a retired manager from AAMCO Transmissions. Mr. Johannesen had attended Northside Baptist Church for many years until his health began to decline. He was a Mason, an avid reader, loved to travel and had dabbled in photography.
Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Ursula Johannesen of Valdosta; his daughter, Debra Johannesen and her fiancé, Joe of Berlin, Germany; a sister and brother-in-law, Janice and Mike Kelly of Starke, Florida; two step-sons, Patrick Denton of Columbus, Georgia and John Denton of San Francisco, California; his grandchildren, Caleb, Emily, and Claire Denton of Whigham, Georgia, Jason and Brentley Denton, and Kristy Thornton all of Columbus, Georgia; eight great-grandchildren; his daughter-in-law, Amy Fowler of Whigham, Georgia; several nephews. He was preceded in death by his step-son, Peter Denton.
Services for Allie Alfred Johannesen will be held at 4 p.m. on Sunday, March 4, 2018 in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home with Rev. Bob Willis officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. In accordance with his wishes, Mr. Johannesen will be cremated after the service.
