Allene Parrish Stewart, 88, of Valdosta, died on Sunday, December 15, 2013 at Fellowship Home in Quitman following a period of declining health. She was born in Echols County, Georgia on November 3, 1925 to the late Wesley Palmer and Bessie Daniels Parrish and has been a resident of this area all her life. She was the owner/operator of Jack and Jill Nursery School for over 27 years. She was a former Sunday school teacher at First United Methodist Church. She was a member of New Covenant Church since its beginning. She was also involved with the "There is More" ministry. Mrs. Stewart was also very involved in the care of her late husband and was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Survivors include two daughters, Sandra Stewart Ross and Catherine Palmer Stewart, and a son, Thomas Dean Stewart, Jr. all of Valdosta; two grandchildren and their spouses, Jennifer and Roggie Boone of Athens, Georgia and Natalie and Dale Adams of McDonough, Georgia; four great-grandchildren, Parker Adams, Harrison Adams, Dean Boone and Piper Boone. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Dean Stewart, Sr.
Services for Mrs. Allene Parrish Stewart will be held on Friday, December 20, 2013 at 10 a.m. at New Covenant Church with Pastor Randy Stephen, Pastor L.A. Joiner and Pastor Jeff Williams officiating. The burial will follow in the Sunset Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the Carson McLane Funeral Home.
