Allan John Wehner, 72, of Valdosta, died at his home after a lengthy illness on Tuesday, March 22, 2005. Born on December 11, 1932, in Amherst, New York, he was the son of the late Alexander Henry and Adelaine Katherine Klein Wehner. Mr. Wehner was a volunteer fireman for Getzville, New York Fire Department, was a member of the Getzville Drum Corps, the Men’s Bowling League and the Men’s Club at Good Shepherd Catholic Church. He was a retired farmer and a Master Woodcrafter. A member of St. John The Evangelist Catholic Church, Mr. Wehner had greatly enjoyed his time in retirement with his wife Jean. Above all he took great joy in his large, loving family and relished in frequent family gatherings.
Surviving are his wife of 50 years, Jean Roneker Wehner of Valdosta; daughter, Donna McLean and her late husband, David of Valdosta, son and daughter in law, Allan and Desiree Wehner of Quitman, a late daughter, Mary Wehner of Valdosta, daughter and son in law, Jan and Tim Hasenfelt of Quitman, daughter, Connie Wehner and Julia Zelazny of Holley, New York, daughter and son in law, Sandy and Wayne Coonan of Palm Harbor, Florida, son and daughter in law, John and Lynn Wehner of Suffolk, Virginia, son and daughter in law, Philip and Deborah Wehner of Camilla, daughter and son in law, Jeanne and Art Delaney of Edgewater, Maryland, daughter and son in law, Theresa and Sam Bearden of Warner Robins, son, Matt Wehner of Hahira; nineteen grandchildren, two great grandchildren; sisters, Marie Horlitz of Arizona, Agnes Heim and Hilde Fiegl of Amherst, New York; numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Wehner was preceded in death by two sisters, Bernice Garlock and Evelyn Donner.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 28, 2005, at 10 am at St. John The Evangelist Catholic Church with Father John O’Brien officiating. The family will receive friends at the Carson McLane Funeral Home on Sunday evening from 6 until 8:00 p.m. with a Rosary beginning at 6:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church Building Fund.
