Alfred Lewis "Billy" King, 76, of Valdosta, died Thursday, October 1, 2009 at South Georgia Medical Center. He was born in Donalsonville, GA on April 10, 1933 to the late Atwood Lewis King and Izzie Bullock King. Mr. King worked at Strickland Cotton Mills, was a handicapped veteran, served in the United States Army in Korea and was a retired corporal. He was a member of the Azalea City Church of God and played the guitar at church.
Mr. King is survived by two sons and one daughter in law, Edwin and Meredith King of Columbus, OH and Ethan King of Atlanta, three grandchildren, Alex, Ian and Micah King of Columbus, OH. He is preceded in death by his wife, Wyolene Wheelis King and one sister, Elaine King Minter.
Funeral services will be held Monday, October 5, 2009 at two p. m. in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home with Reverend Brett Jarriel, Reverend Wayne Hughes, Reverend Raymond Gabbard and Reverend Loyce "Buddy" Walker officiating. Burial will follow in Riverview Memorial Gardens with military honors. The family will receive friends from six until eight p. m. Saturday at the funeral home.
