Alex Ledford Baldwin

Alex Ledford Baldwin, 83, of Valdosta, died Monday, March 7, 2011 at his residence. Alex Baldwin was born September 23, 1927 in Naylor, to Camilus and I.V. Baldwin. He graduated from Valdosta High School and Mercer University Law School before serving in the U.S. Navy Air Corps. Mr. Baldwin lived in Valdosta for most of his adult life, working for almost 30 years at Owens-Illinois as a purchasing manager and he was a deacon and active member of the Crossroads Baptist Church.

Mr. Baldwin is survived by his wife of 55 years, Ann Baldwin of Valdosta; their three sons and daughters-in-law, Greg and Nancy Baldwin of Kennesaw, Rex and Lisa Baldwin of Valdosta, and Brad and Christian Baldwin of McDonough; six grandchildren, Brooke Baldwin of Valdosta, Will Baldwin of Kennesaw, Sarah Baldwin of Valdosta, Laura Baldwin of Kennesaw, Davis Baldwin and Colton Baldwin both of Valdosta; and his brother James Edwin Baldwin of Grovetown. Also surviving are a sister in law and brother in law, Earlene and Lew Bussey of Ft. Myers, FL; a brother in law, Edwin Mathis of Waycross; a brother in law and sister in law, J.L. & Velma Hinnant of Waycross; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Baldwin is preceded in death by a sister, Mary Alice Long.

Funeral services for Mr. Baldwin will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, March 10, 2011 at Crossroads Baptist Church. Dr. Ken Alford and Rev. Charlie Scarborough will officiate. Burial will follow at McLane Riverview Memorial Garden. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday evening, March 9, 2011 from 5 until 7 p.m. Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to the Crossroads Baptist Church Building Fund, 3001 Country Club Drive, Valdosta, GA 31602.
