Alene Prokop, 64, of Statenville, died on Monday, January 24, 2005, at South Georgiia Medical Center in Valdosta. Born in Echols County, Georgia on August 22, 1940, she had lived there most of her life. She was the daughter of the late Charlie and Wilma Padgett Culpepper. Mrs. Prokop was retired from Sallie’s Beauty Supply. She was a member of the Church of God.
Surviving are her husband, Francis (Frank) Prokop of Statenville; sons, Kenneth and Diane Petty of Statenville, Jimmy and Debbie McGauley of Jennings, Florida; daughter, Pamela and Randall Lane of Lake Park; five grandchildren, Shane Petty, Ben McGauley, Jessie Lane, Amanda McGauley, Amber McGauley; four step grandchildren, Eric Gaskins, Jerron Lane, April Lane, Heath Lane; eleven great grandchildren; sisters, Lois Corbett and Lorene Carter of Lake Park, Doris and Ethridge Fielding of Waycross, brothers, Billy and Evelyn Culpepper and Charlie M. and Joan Culpepper of Lake Park. She was also preceded in death by a brother, J. Frank Culpepper and a sister, Wilma Jean Finck.
Memorial services for Mrs. Prokop will be held on Friday, January 28, 2005, at 3 p.m. at McLane Lakewood Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend Mickey Corbett and Reverend Ben Weeks will officiate. Committal will be held at Carter Cemetery. The family suggests no flowers. Donations may be made to Hospice of South Georgia.
