Aleen O�Neal Fender, 93, of Valdosta, died at her home on Monday, April 5, 2010 after a lengthy illness. Born on November 5, 1916 in Ruskin, she was the daughter of the late William Fred and Nora Bell O�Neal. Mrs. Fender loved cooking, working with her flowers and peppers, and making hot pepper sauce. She was of the Baptist faith.
She is survived by her daughter, Ruth Harnage and husband, David of Valdosta; son, Richard Fender and wife, Linda Gail of Waycross; daughter, Jeanette Lee and husband, Gerald of Hoboken; grandchildren and their spouses, Darlene and Jimmy Lehman of Lowndes County, Connie and Kenny Haskins of Lake Park, Sheila and Jesse Stenstin of Arabi, Judy and Albert Kennedy of Naylor, Timmy Barfield of Lowndes County. Mrs. Fender is also survived by her many great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Okie Griffin of Waycross. She was preceded in death by her husband, R.N. Fender; daughter, Betty Jo Barfield; and sons, R.W. Fender, Arthur William Fender and James Edward Fender. The family would like to thank granddaughter, Darlene Lehman, great-granddaughter, Christy Morgan, and Bethany Hospice for their special care and help.
Funeral services will be held at 11 A.M. on Thursday, April 8, 2010 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with Father Tim Blanton officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
