Alden Ray Brown, Jr., 64 of Valdosta died Sunday, May 22, 2016 at Langdale Hospice House. He was born in Louisville, Kentucky on April 28, 1952 to Alden Ray Brown, Sr. and the late Anna Margaret Skaggs Brown and had lived in Valdosta since 1979. He was a member of New Covenant Church-Valdosta and a veteran of the United States Air Force. Mr. Brown was retired from Civil Service at Moody Air Force Base in Energy Management and the owner of Brown's Service Company. He was a 1970 graduate of Avondale High School in Avondale Estates and a member of the Sons of Thunder where he had served as President of the Motorcycle Ministry. Mr. Brown was a member of the Valdosta Wildcat Sideline Chain Gang for twenty nine years and an avid NASCAR and football fan.
Survivors include his wife of forty four years, Karen Dunckel Brown of Valdosta; his son, David Matthew Brown of Valdosta; his father, Alden Ray Brown, Sr. of Winter Springs, FL; his sister, Joyce Fryrear of Winter Park, FL; his brother and sister in law, Larry and Teresa Brown of Indiana; his mother in law, Veva Dunckel of Clarkston, GA; sister in law, Christine Wood of Decatur, GA; brother in law, Mark Dunckel of Sharpsburg, GA; sister in law, Janis Dunckel of Decatur, GA; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Anna Margaret Skaggs Brown and a brother, Leslie Brown.
Funeral services will be held at 2pm, Thursday, May 26, 2016 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with Pastor Glenn Hatcher and Mr. Phil Merwin officiating. Burial will follow in the McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 1-2pm at the funeral home.
